It appears from documents on file in this office that William Hardison
a private of
Captain John E. Hussey's Company of North Carolina Militia entered
service for 6
mnths on the 17th of October 1814 and served till the 10th of March
1815 when the
Company was discharged

PENSION OF MARY HARDISON, WIDOW OF WILLIAM HARDISON
From the Pension Office dated Feby 18, 1856
Address to Isaac ? Kelly Esq, Kenansville, NC
It states that a widow must offer proof of her marriage to the soldier
"The application of Mary Hardison No 156.255, as widow of Wm.
Hardison, deceased is
suspended for proof of marriage death of husband & present widowhood"

DECLARATION FOR WIDOW
Who has heretofore received Bounty Land less than 160 Acres
State of NC, County of Duplin
On the twelveth day of April 1855, personally appeared before me, a
justice of the
peace, within and for the County and State aforesaid Mary Hardison
aged 60 years,
resident of the County and State aforesaid, who, being duly sworn
according to law,
declares that she is the widow of William Hardison who served in the
company commanded
by Captain John E. Hussey in the Regiment of North Carolina Militia
commanded by
Colonel Morris Moore in the war with Great Britain of 1812.
And continued in actual service in said war for at least 14 days and
was honorably
discharged at Wilmington, NC on the 17 day of March 1815.
She further states that she was married to the said William Hardison
in Duplin County
NC on the 10th day of August 1817 and that her name before her said
marriage was Mary
Dail that her said husband died at Wayne County on the __ day of ___
and that she is
now a widow
She further declares that she has heretofore made application for
bounty land under
the act approved September 28, 1850 upon which she obtained a warrant
for 80 acres
No. ___ which she has legally disposed of and cannot now return it.
Isaac B. Kelly of Kenanville, NC is duly authorized to prosecute this
my claim and to
receive any warrant which may be issued hereon

On the 22nd Day of April 1856 Dennis Summesbuy ? & Curtis Deal
credatible (sic) persons
came before me and made Oath that they were well acquainted with
William Hardison & his
wife Mary that they were present when they were married which they
think took place
about the year 1815. They further testify that the Said William
Hardison died about the
year 1846 & they also testify that the Said Mary Hardison is now the
widow of the Said

19 November 1850 - Elijah Jones and Jesse Brock swore they knew
William and Mary
Hardison were married and that William died in Wayne County in 1838.
(Note: this is a different death date but was probably written down wrong)
