Thomas W. Sharpless
Thomas W. Sharpless was born in 1786 in the New Hanover County, NC area.
During the War of 1812 he served in the North Carolina Militia, 2nd Regiment, 12 Company.
About 1816 he sold all his property located on Long Creek and moved to Baldwin County
Georgia, where he married Nancy Weatherford on November 22, 1816.
In 1818 Thomas and Nancy moved to Conecuh County, Alabama and in 1825 they moved to
Pike County, Alabama.
Thomas and Nancy reared six children and remained in Pike County the rest of their lives.
Thomas and Nancy are buried in Hopewell Cemetery near Henderson, Pike County, Alabama,
in unmarked graves.
Family members have placed a memorial to them at the Hopewell Cemetery.
Thomas's War of 1812 grave marker will be placed at the memorial.
